THERMIK 2004
The Autumn Fair for Pilots

Actually it should have two premieres at the THERMIK. For the first time Mike Küng was due to change the colour of the sky above Böblingen from blue to orange with smoke. Last year a show was not possible because of the bad weather, the years before because of the prohibition from the local government. But also 2004 Mike could not show his aerobattle manoeuvres in the air above the fair area. The cloud base was so low, that the helicopter was not allowed to take off.

But the second premiere took place. The very first time Alex Kaiser`s brandnew video clip „Project STRATOSPHERE“ was presented to the public. 10 exciting minutes with MadMikeKüng`s high altitude record above 10.100 metres. A story hardly to the limit...

In the cinema every place was taken when Mike started to report about his borderline walk. The medicine and successfull cross country pilot Dr. Torsten Hahne explained the risks for the human organism in this extreme altitude. Then the pictures of the film talked for itself.

After the video clip „Head over“ MadMike tried to convince the spectators of the great fun to jump out of a cable car. But the pilots were sceptical. Most of them will use the normal mountain take off method also in the future. ;o)

The public was nodding in approval when Mike closed his lecture with the words: „Paragliding ist the most fascinating sport in the world!“
